ESCI 20500. EARTH MATERIALS Our global society relies on minerals, rocks, and soil for life, agriculture, and industry. This course introduces the ways that we characterize and study Earth materials. The processes that control the formation and evolution of Earth materials in different tectonic and environmental settings provide the framework for learning how to analyze physical, optical, and chemical properties. Economic importance and potential health hazards will also be explored. Three hours of lecture and three hours of lab weekly. (1.25 course credits) [MNS]
